Hey There!
Hey guys! I can't believe how long it's been since my last blog post! Anyways, I will get back on this. I'm sorry. :) I hope all of you are doing GREAT. I've had a pretty awesome few months. Since March, a lot of things have happened!
The band and I have played at a lot of festivals and some really fun venues in general. We are actually working on an EP now! The amazing Ben Sesar, Brad Paisley's drummer, will be our producer for the project, and we will have four original songs on it, new and old. We will be recording at the super cool Hilltop Studio in Madison, Tennessee! The band and I are super duper excited about it. :) The even cooler part of the EP is that our fans helped us get to it! We set up an IndieGogo account so fans could contribute for perks, and we raised over $7,000! I am still in shock of how kind and generous all of you are. It is unbelievable to me, and I can't thank you enough for the support. We will be driving to Nashville the day after Thanksgiving with the band. On Saturday, we will have a show at Rippy's Bar and Grill, then will be recording Sunday and Monday. I'll be sure to take plenty of videos!;) I also won the local division of Texaco Country Showdown sponsored by WYYZ 1490AM in Jasper. It was so much fun! I was able to perform at the Fayette County Fair for the state finals. I didn't win, but the guy that did was great. I really think everyone brought something cool to the table. :) Over the summer, I was accepted into the NSAI Advanced Songwriting Workshop. It was wonderful! I've never learned so much useful information and met so many friendly people! Everyone was so kind there, plus I just adore everything about Nashville. So it was an awesome experience. :) Those are some of the main things that have gone on. I recently played at the Cumming Fair, MarbleFest, and Riverfest where I had the honor to sing the National Anthem. :) Anyways, happy Sunday! I just love the cold weather lately. It's so nice. I just wanted to kind of update you guys and blog since I haven't done so in forever. Make sure you keep in touch on Facebook, Twitter, and everywhere else! xoxo, Jordan Grassi BlogBlogBlogBlogBlogBlog(:Hello there!
Hope you all are doing well! I'm on my way down to Florida right now. My mommy just got the portable hotspot thing on her iPhone so i now can go on the internet on my laptop while traveling! It's so exciting(: These next few days are certain to have their ups and downs. We will get to Florida tonight. Then tomorrow, I'm going to Florida to hangout with some of my best friends for her birthday and watching The Hunger Games(: Saturday morning is my uncle's funeral. That is going to be the most emotional part of my weekend, guaranteed. Maybe even one of the most emotional days of my life. It's so hard to believe that he is gone. It's just so extremely unreal. Thinking of what I'm going to say at the funeral makes it even more hard to grasp. My mom says there will be at least 200 people at the service. There were 80+ people that responded to the Facebook event! If each person brings at least another person, that'd be 160 people, and probably half of them are bringing more than one. That's only the Facebook responders. There are lots of other people in the small town of Melbourne and church friends of his that will be there as well. This whole day has been wierd. It was exciting to think, "Yay! We're going to Florida!"..but then you think of the downside of the whole situation and the whole mood changes. I know it will give many people closure though, including me. I know that he doesn't want us to all live in sadness over him. He would probably tell me, "Get over it!".. lol:)I miss him so much. I never really realized it until he was gone. This whole week has been crazy thinking about the funeral because it feels like it shouldn't be happening. Even saying, "my uncle's funeral" feels awkward. I miss him a lot. The last time I talked to my Uncle Douggy over the phone was probably around a month before he left us. He was telling me how pissed he was because of all of the traffic in New York. My uncle would always go to New York for the job with the animals that inspired him: horses. My uncle was an equine podiatrist and he took his job seriously. He loved his animals: his dogs, his horses, the cats that we first took care of before we had to move, and even the big birds that would occasionally land in his front yard and roam around. He would take many pictures of them. I have the honor to sing, "AmazingGrace" at his funeral. My uncle told me on our last phone call as well that I should do what I want to do, and not let anyone tell me different. He talked about my band and told me to never have someone involved in drugs and alcohol.. I then explained to him that all of my band members were my age..lol:) He told me for the future and even now, that those were the people I didn't want to be with in a band. My uncle was such a cool person. He had a lot of things people didn't understand about him. But everyone does. There's things I wouldn't tell anyone about myself. There's things every single person in the world wouldn't. But he was a wonderful man. He was caring. He was hilarious. He was a character. He was a soldier. Semper Fidelis!(: He was the one who showed me Jeff Dunham for the first time. My uncle is missed by soooo many people and I know he always will be. I am happy though to be in Florida. I need to get tan! I'm so incredibly white.Like I could be inTwilight! lol My sister and I are sharing the back bunk of the minivan. Mema and Teigan are in the middle seats. Eckos sprawled across the floor trying to fit into places far too small for him. And Mommy and Daddy are in the front seats. I would guess we probably have around 3 hours left. About an hour and a half ago, we left McDonald's. We've already passed the Florida-Georgia border, and it's usually 4 hours in each state. But then again, we've stopped 5 zillion times for bathroom breaks/candy bars/food/more bathroom breaks. Sooo. We probably SHOULDHAVE been there already. But my family's agenda never goes as planned....lol(: This week I found out that I was accepted into the NSAI Advanced Songwriting Workshop in Nashville! Only 50 were accepted! I'm so excited. :) Well I love you guys! Please pray for my family. We have all been kind of a mess because of the whole funeral organizing stuff. Although it has been hard though, I know if God brings us to it, he'll bring us through it, and I just have to put my trust in him. Thanks for reading and have a great day!(: Love, Grassi February 24th, 2012Hello lovelies(:
I hope y'all are doing great! I can't believe it's already the end of February! It's crazy. Right now, I'm listening to Wagon Wheel by Old Crow Medicine Show while drinking tea.(: I LOVE that band. They're soooo amazingly talented and have a great feel to their music. It's wonderful.:) For the past few days, the weather has been so lovely! I've been freezing my butt off all winter and now it feels like summer outside! It's so great. <3 <3 I've been on break all of this week and I've really done nothing but write songs and work on my music..lol. Which isn't a bad thing at all! (: I have a lot of new songs I can't wait for you guys to hear. <3 We wrapped up "Elvis People" with a great last show at the beginning of February! It was lots of fun. (: Then on Friday the 17th, I had to do my Orfale speech.....you don't even know how scared I was! I can sing in front of people without a problem, but when it came to this speech, I had never been so nervous! But I did it, and she told me it was great!:) Guess what y'all? The Jordan Grassi Band will be at Smith's Olde Bar again on April 28th! This show will be earlier than the first one, it opens at 4PM. It's also my daddy's birthday, so it'll be lots of fun. Make sure you come on out to join us! This past week, I had a review from Ear Pudding TV!I was so excited! You can read the whole thing here: http://earpuddingtv.com/jordan-grassi-rising-star-artist-review-music-review/ Make sure you keep checking in here for all of the Jordan Grassi Band's upcoming shows! We have a lot of stuff going on including MUSIC VIDEOS, big shows, and maybe even an EP coming out?(; I love you all! Stay wonderful!(: Love, Jordan Grassi RIP Douglas HannaI'm sorry I haven't blogged in a while. I've been super duper busy. As usual. But I just wanted to talk about my uncle.
My Uncle Douggy died yesterday morning around 12:47a.m. He was driving home from a bar and veered off the shoulder of State Road 46. He slammed into a palm tree and died at the scene. They don't know if it was because he was intoxicated or not, but I just want to say PLEASE don't drink and drive. It was around 10:30a.m. Saturday morning when I found out. We were rushing out the door, as usual, on our way to band rehearsal. We were late, and to add on to us being late, we see a police car at our front gate. As I continue to load my stuff into the car and get my siblings situated, my mom walks up to the gate to open it for the woman and see what's wrong. I wasn't expecting anything of it. Maybe a neighbor's complaint.Something simple. When my mom walked back down the driveway, she didn't have the same face she walked up it with. She rushes up to the car and yells "Douggy's dead!" I sat there in shock. I didn't know what to do. I had to repeat it to myself to even somewhat comprehend what was going on. Mommy didn't know what to do either. She stood there, wanting to run inside, wanting to run somewhere, wanting to believe it wasn't true. She ran inside after Jenna and told my Grandma the news. I brought Ecko and Teigan inside, and by the time the sheriff had come in, my Grandma was hysterical. She was screaming and crying. "This can't be real! You have the wrong person!" The sheriff sat there with a blank, sympathetic stare. She couldn't change it. None of us could. Yesterday was a hard day. I felt empty. I felt lost. I couldn't believe that this had really happened. My Grandma was ready to fly out an hour after it happened. She started cleaning up her house. She needed to fly down to Florida to get his stuff in order. I just sat there blankly staring. I didn't know what to think. My uncle was a strong person. My uncle was a great person. Everyone loved him. Everyone praised him as if he was some sort of god. He was someone people looked up to. He was a surfer, he was a horse person, he was a musician, and a soldier. He had gone through a lot. People told him that, but he still didn't really love himself. When you are not happy with yourself, nothing else matters. He suffered a lot because of what he went through in wars. But he was still a good person. Alcohol does not change a good person. My dad wasn't there for me when I was little. My mother did most of it by herself. On my first Christmas, Uncle Douggy spent time with me and played with me. My dad was nowhere to be found. Uncle Douggy helped raise me when I was younger. They say people never realize how much you are loved until you are gone. I believe this is 100% true. As soon as people found out, people posted sooo much love on his Facebook wall. People posted on my mom's wall, people posted on my wall. People texted me and made sure I was okay. Mama Paschal, Tommy's mom, stayed up a while last night to make sure I was okay. They brought us honeybaked ham and donuts. She cleared her plans this morning just to make sure I'm okay. My best friend from Florida, Haley, made sure I was okay as well. Everyone has been sooo kind throughout all of this. It doesn't matter if you believe in God, or Jesus. When people pass away, they don't just pass away. They live on with you. They watch over you, as an angel. I know that Uncle Douggy will always be with me. He will be with me onstage, if I'm writing songs in my room, if I'm at school, or maybe when I'm older driving down the road, getting married years from now. I know he didn't just leave us. He will always be with me. "Love doesn't hide. It stays and fights. It goes the distance, that's why love is so strong. So it can carry you all the way home.”-Unknown Rest In Peace Douggy. We will miss you greatly, may you surf the waves of Heaven. May you play guitar for the angels. May you now serve in God's undefeatable army. January 9th, 2012Happy New Year!
Sorry I didn't blog last week! I've been so busy! Bad excuse, I know. :( But how are you guys?!! And how is 2012 treating you?(: I can't believe it's a new year already. Well I had a great new year. I sat around the t.v. with my wonderful family and we ate cookie cake with sparkling grape juice. :) The band is great. We changed things up a little bit, so now Decker Ellis has joined us on the bass. Val Hoyt on electric guitar, and THE Tommy Paschal on the drums. ;) They're all sooo awesome and we have so much fun together!:D We have lots of shows in the next week, whether it's just open mics or Smith's Olde Bar January 21st in Atlanta. It's a big show, are you going to be there?(: Lately, I feel like I'm forgetting everything! It's crazy. Do y'all ever feel like that?!!? It drives me insane! I'm in a great mood this morning. :) Even though it's a Monday! Monday's usually aren't fun. Right? But today must be an exception:) This past week, I was back to school. :/ But I've had some "Elvis People" rehearsals, so those have been fun. :) (Elvis People is our school's next show. :D) So if you want to come see it, Feb. 2-4 would be the time to go. :) In February, we will be in Tallahassee for the Southeast Pigfest, then Battle of the Bands! It'll be a great weekend. :) Grandma got me the coolest socks! They're reindeer, and we were supposed to be saving them for next Christmas...but I still think they're cool. So I'm wearing them to school tomorrow. Rudolph is still around in January, right? I'm going to marry Hunter Hayes. I've decided. He doesn't know it yet. But he will, guys. He will. Lol:) Yesterday, I went to IHOP with my sister and the band. The waitress asks Mama Paschal, "Are all of these children yours?". Mama Paschal: "Yes. Actually, no. This one(Tommy) is mine." Me:"We're the band." This leads on to us talking about Backyard Country, Smith's Olde Bar, and just promoting our band. The waitress was so sweet to us. So if she ever reads this, sorry we attacked you with a business card and lots of information just from one simple question. Hopefully, you didn't mind and we'll see you at Smith's. :) Okay, well my rambling is over with I believe. Unless you'd like me to ramble more. If so, just send me a message on Facebook or something. Lol kidding, lovelies, kidding. :) Love y'all! :) <3 Love, Grassi Socks:D Band rehearsal AKA Val working out? Jenna being attacked lol :D IHOP.December 28th, 2011Well hi there(:
I hope you've had a great week!If you celebrate Christmas, I hope it was wonderful. :) I've been sitting around the house today(with Ecko..duhh) and now we're watching Spongebob Squarepants! I haven't watched it in a while lol. :) Well, this week has been slow, but also somewhat busy. First, we went to the It's A Grind Coffeehouse Holiday Party last Wednesday. It was soooo much fun! The BeatBox Baristas performed the Imperial Death March and it was AWESOME. You can watch that here! :) I've listened to soooo much Christmas music this week and made sooo many sugar cookies and watched sooo many Christmas movies.. it's crazy! Lol:) Well, our tradition at my house is that you get to open one present on Christmas Eve..so Christmas Eve shows up and I have to sit in my room for like 20 minutes while they get my present "ready". Then, I walk out into the living room to find a piano! I was too excited, my parents are the best. :) The next morning, Santa left me a mandolin, and recording studio equipment! As well as lots of clothes;) I was sooo happy. It was a great day of spending time with the family. Around noon, we went to my Aunt and Uncle's house. My great, great uncle asked me to sing for him. So my mommy brought my guitar from home and we sat around the dining table while I sat on their steps and played Christmas songs! It was great. :) Monday, I performed at Eddie's Attic. THAT was soooo much fun. Before the open mic, we talked with Jessica Mason about a possible music video. That was exciting to talk about;D I'll let you guys know all the details soon! Hope you all have a great holiday season and a Happy New Year! :) Love, Jordan Grassi Ecko thinking he should stand on our dining room table...lol. Well, it's Monday...and I'm home! It's this crazy thing called Winter Break and I'm SO EXCITED ABOUT IT. I actually did great on all of my finals! I ended up with A's and B's in all of my classes, I was so happy. :) Right now, I'm watching Easy A with Ecko, which is my usual situation when blogging. Lol. :) Emma Stone is sooo funny! I love her acting. I'm talking with Britt and freezing my butt off: it's so cold out! Ecko doesn't realize that he's slowly pushing me off the couch..lol. So this past Friday, I had a show at Land Of A Thousand Hills in Roswell, GA. It was great! We went to my Val, my bassist's, house before to do a quick run-through of our set list, when he got a text from his friend that he would only show up if we did, "Red Solo Cup". We then thought it'd be a good idea to call him and when he answers, just start singing the chorus of "Red Solo Cup". He ended up showing up towards the end and we had the chance to just wing it. It was soooo much fun. :) You can actually watch the video right here! http://youtu.be/pzhHRILyeXI But anyways, I love my band right now. They're so darn awesome and just great people to hang out with. :) Christmas is sooo close already! Only 6 days left:) It's so exciting! I love fuzzy slippers. They're so fuzzy. (: SO guess what?!?!? Jordan Grassi is going to be doing a music video soon! No details confirmed yet, but I'm super stoked. :) Hope you all are having a wonderful start to your week, and are having a great holiday season! :) Pics from the last week: Pre-Show Rehearsal:) Bath and Body Works During Christmas time!:) Our beautiful Christmas tree=) I LOVE what this coffee bag says:) Land Of A Thousand Hills-December 16th, 2011 Skyping With Ben Sesar:) Me making the dumbest face possible. <3 Aren't they awesome? After the show:) <3 The past two weeks...and so on. :)Hey guys!
These past few weeks have been soooo crazy(which isn't a good excuse) and I didn't have the time to blog over the past few weekends! I'm sorry:( How was your Thanksgiving? Mine was great, we went to my Uncle Gary's house, it was lots of fun! It was nice to see family I haven't seen in a while and to see the beautiful twin cousins I have. They're the sweetest and always greet me with a smile. :) Well, it's Christmas time already! I can't believe it. I'm so excited. :) There's so many exciting things going on and I love it. Well, as usual when I go blogging, I'm sitting on the couch with my Ecko. We're watching Grown Ups! Today went by really quick, just getting prepared for finals week, chorus concerts, and all that good stuff! Guess what?!!?!? As I've told you all before, I've been trying to get a band together to play with me at concerts. So our first performance was at the Canton Christmas Parade/Celebration this past Saturday(December 3rd). We had Andy Thacker on electric guitar, Tommy Paschal on drums, and our guest bassist, Sean Taylor. It went great, it was an awesome experience! Our next performance is at the Land Of A Thousand Hills Coffeehouse in Roswell, Georgia. December 16th at 8-10PM! Also, we have another show on January 21st at Smith's Olde Bar in Atlanta at 7PM. It's gonna be a blast!:) 18 more days until Christmas! It's crazy. :) This past Friday was my last workshop in Nashville at the ASCAP office! It was so sad, but I had a great time, and Bonnie Baker was so much fun to listen to. Also, I'll be on Backyard Country! Tomorrow night at 9PM:) But to stay on, I need you guys to vote! Go to www.949thebull.com, the "On-Air" tab then "Backyard Country" Tab. :) Well, here's some pictures from the past few weeks. Thanks for all of your support! :) <3 Thanksgiving!:) Post-Thanksgiving dinner activities... Getting all ready! Uncle Gary cutting up the turkey! Decorating pumpkin cupcakes. :) Jennaaaa:) Post-Thanksgiving dinner football Going for a walk! We were driving around in Nashville and the back of this car made me sooo happy. How awesome is that? Getting ready for the show before the Canton Christmas Parade=) Setting up before:) Whoever drew this and taped it to the Chemistry Periodic table of elements in class....you are amazing. Getting ready for the Chorus Concert! Britt and I were soooooo excited only because while talking about Toby Keith's "Red Solo Cup"...we saw a red solo cup!! haha:) Andddd some more Christmas Parade pictures:) Love you all!:) Jordan Grassi November 20th, 2011
Well hi there. (:
Sorry I forgot to blog last week! I was just so busy, it was crazy! Hope you all are doing great and had a great weekend. :) Well, last week was busy! Last weekend I went to Kennesaw State University for the Southern Talent Expo. It was so much fun! And from there, I went to perform at my school's Songs of Sondheim and Hammerstein show: it was great! I had the opportunity to do "Stepsister's Lament" from Cinderella, and it was sooo much fun. :) This week went by slow, but fast to me. It was just the week before Thanksgiving Break and I was ready to get it overwith...lol. I was up Friday morning bright and early for District 9 Honors Chorus in Gainesville, GA with my chorus group! I was there all day, and didn't come home until 11 at night, but it was much fun, and I was up nice and early Saturday morning as well for the last day of rehearsals and the show. It was a great experience! Needless to say, I was happy I had the chance to sleep in this morning. :) So once I got up this morning, I sat around the house with Ecko, listened to Hunter Hayes's album a few more times(this has been like the only thing I've listened to for the past few weeks), read some books, played "Someone Like You" on piano, then went to band rehearsal when my parents were home. I'm playing with these two awesome guys: Andy Thacker and Tommy Paschal. They're sooo much fun to play and hangout with, which is always a good thing. :) So we sat around a campfire that we couldn't seem to keep lit and rode around Tommy's yard, and jammed. :) It was a great way to end the weekend and get ready for this week. :) Thanksgiving's right around the corner! What are you guys doing for the holiday?(: Ecko just attacked me..hes so cute though that it's okay. :) It's been crazy cold outside! I love it..but I slept with like 3 comforters last night. Ohhhh fall/winter nights. ;) Well, I'm going to bed now. Because I don't know about you guys, but I'm tired. But I wanted to blog to you guys, because you're amazing. :) And some pictures from the past few weeks: Season's Greetings:) <3 Teigan's birthday! Cutting his cake. :) <3 This about made my entire week...this was awesome. District Schedule! The Riverside Academy(where we had Districts) looked like Hogwarts. It was so darn cool. Districts Group 2011:) Thanks Kennith for the picture!:) My road looks soooo pretty with all the trees. :) My Uncle Douggy's picture is on there! Thank you to all of the other troops who have served for our country. <3 And lastly, our bonfire from tonight. :)Love you all! Jordan Grassi :) November 6th, 2011
Hey guys!
Sorry I haven't blogged in the past few weeks, I've been busy. :) All excuses aside though, it's a great day today. It's finally November, I'm watching movies with my amazing family, we made sugar cookies, and I've been listening to the Hunter Hayes album all day. He is soooo awesome, I love him. :) If you haven't listened to it yet, you definitely should! I don't know if I've told you guys this yet, but I was recently accepted into an ASCAP Country Songwriting Workshop hosted by Bonnie Baker! Bonnie has such awesome songs out right now with Hunter Hayes and Rascal Flatts, as well as a bunch of other people! It's so exciting. :) I have two more workshops in December, so I can't wait to be in Nashville during the Christmas season! <3 Have any of you gone to Bass Pro Shops before? I love that place. It's so much fun. haha :) I was chosen to go to District Chorus for my school November 18th and 19th! It's so awesome, I'm excited. :D My week's been pretty good. I dressed up for Halloween of course! I was going to be a witch, but then I last minute decided to dress as a business woman. I just walked around in this business dress with a coffee mug and a laptop bag. haha:) And my little brother was an army guy and my sister was a Greek goddess. :) Don't you guys just love the cold weather!?!?! I love it soooo much, it's so pretty. :) I'm hoping to have a Christmas show at It's A Grind in December...stay tuned. ;) Speaking of shows, I also have a show on November 26th at the Copper Coin Coffeehouse in Downtown Woodstock! It's gonna be so much fun. :) We also had the chance to meet The Band Perry! Star 94 A-List Lounge gave us the opportunity so my mommy entered..and we won! So we watched them sing their beautiful songs and then we met them. And they signed my guitar. :) <3 Well here's some pictures from the last couple weeks. :) We have ice cream trucks..Nashville has grilled cheese trucks! So awesome, I flipped out. ...Ecko wanted to drive. Chick-fil-a Dwarf House! Eating dinner at Daddy's workshop.. (: Seeing The Band Perry be their perfect selves <3 A blurry picture of the most exciting thing ever: my guitar. :) They now have Peppermint Mocha coffee again! Oh my gosh it's sooooo yummy. You must try it. :) Ecko at Bass Pro Shops looking at the fish. He was so excited. :) Make sure to come to www.jordangrassi.com for all the news! :) Love, Jordan Grassi
